I have been involved in showing dogs since the late
seventies, firstly with a Saint Bernard, then Bearded Collies and Bichon Frise
and latterly the Havanese. With the Beardies I enjoyed doing obedience,
Agility, working trials as well as showing. I first saw Havanese in the UK in
1993 when I visited Barbara Benerson. Her Havanese had just been released from
six months Quarantine. I loved their lively, affectionate characters and
natural looks, very similar to my Beardies in a smaller package! Since 1994 I
have been owned by this delightful breed.
I advocate health testing as you can never do too much
to ensure you breed healthy dogs to the best of your ability. All my Havanese
are eye tested including litters. I will only breed a litter when I wish to
further my lines and/or have prior bookings, so puppies are rarely available.
I have had the pleasure of visiting many countries,
meeting breeders and attending shows in my effort to learn more about the
Havanese and its history. One of the most memorable was my visit to Cuba were I
was welcomed into breeders homes and proudly shown their Havanese.
I am Treasurer of The Havanese Club of GB, Chairman of
Grimsby Canine Society and a KC Accredited Breeder.
